The Importance of Gelling With Your Team and Having Good Chemistry

How important is gelling with your team and having good chemistry?

Critical.

In this blog post, I will share my thoughts on Cavalry and why, because of their ability to gel with one another and have great chemistry, they had such a stellar inaugural 2019 campaign!

Cavalry

Yes, anyone who watched the CPL last year knew Cavalry was THAT good in the inaugural season.

Yes, some of the big reasons were they had a fantastic coach, a great group of talented players, and some great fans but I also think they had two huge things going for them – the gelling and their chemistry. That might not sound like two huge reasons but let me assure you they are!

Some examples of top flight teams, some of the best in Europe, are because of their chemistry and gelling.

Sure you could argue that it is kind of a different style of play than most clubs here in Canada, but still in any country including Canada you need good chemistry and gelling to have an amazing team.

Just think of FC Barcelona. From 2008 to 2012 Pep Guardiola was Barca's manager. During that time Barca was dominant! Plus, when Pep Guardiola was the manager he had possibly the best midfield trio of all time: Xavi, Iniesta, and Busquets.

Barcelona could not have done that sort of amazing and beautiful passing without knowing each other very well.

What about Spain's golden generation? Does anybody else remember that? I remember it even though I was still very young!

A big part of why it was successful was Xavi, Iniesta, and Busquets. The Spanish team won basically all the major trophies they could win from 2008 to 2012, the Euro Cup in 2008, the World Cup in 2010, and the Euro Cup again in 2012.

In Spain's golden generation a lot of the Spanish players who played on the national team also played at Barca. This made the chemistry that much better. Before that, and why I point this out to you, is that a lot of national team players played in La Liga.

During Spain's golden generation, the Tiki Tika was amazing at Barcelona and the Spanish national team!

Down below is a very in depth video about Tiki Tika and how the Spanish national team and Barca played, the video is by Tifo Football

Now that you learned more about Tiki Tika, and how they developed it, now you can see how it was like in a game. At minute 5 is when it really starts to get really amazing.

Another great example of chemistry, is Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid.

They recently knocked out Liverpool, the reigning champions of Europe (who had a really scary attacking trio in Mane, Salah, and Firmino) out of the Champions League.

Why because their their defending is outstanding and part of that is their chemistry with one another. They defend as a team and because they know each other so well, they are able to cover up the gaps and they know what each other needs.

Down below is a great video on Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid by Tifo Football.

Their are so many examples of top class teams in the world that are great because they know their teammates so well.

One last great example is the Barca trio that made opposing teams defences crumble like stale bread…very, very crumbly bread. All you La Liga fans that hate FC Barcelona, I'm sure, have very horrid memories of that trio destroying every defence in sight.

MSN (Messi, Suarez and Neymar) – Even though they all came from rival South American countries, and it was unlikely that they would develop this understanding and friendship, they would spend so much time together talking about soccer, or life in general, that on the pitch they were able to anticipate what the other would do. This attacking trio will go down in the history books, their chemistry was so good!

Going back to Cavalry, like I said earlier, the chemistry and gelling made them really good. Half of the guys on that team knew each other before. They had a really good understanding of each other and how they played. This made it a lot easier for them to come out of the gates running.

The chemistry and gelling gave the Cavs a big boost, but overall they had a great team!

By the way, go check out Tifo Football they have some great soccer videos on youtube so go sub to them. I love listening to their videos especially the tactics ones. they break the tactics down so anybody can easily understand them.
