The AIR NXT is the newest portable from Pixellot. It costs about $949. That is lower than the other Pixellot cams. It’s super-light. It weighs less than 2kg. You can throw it in a bag and forget it’s there. (Not always a good thing, but often a great thing.)

The Hardware

It uses dual 12MP sensors. This gives you a 4K view. It captures a 200-degree field of vision. You won’t miss the corners of the pitch.

The storage is massive. It comes with up to 512GB. That is about 32 hours of video. You can record a whole weekend tournament without a laptop. That matters when the field Wi-Fi is bad.

The Battery

It has a 6-hour battery. Most games are 90 minutes. You can get three or four games on one charge. It also supports fast charging via USB-C. You can plug in a power bank if you get desperate.

The Software

Pixellot is built for broadcasting. If you want to stream games to parents with ads or a paywall, Pixellot is the best. They have a white-label OTT platform. It makes your club look like a pro team.

The analysis is fine. It’s not as deep as Hudl. It tracks shots and goals. It’s simple. It works.

It records in 1080p. That sounds worse than 4K. On paper, it is. But Hudl’s software is very good at “zooming” without losing much. It’s clear enough for scouting.

It doesn’t have the 180-degree “tactical” view that Veo offers as easily. It’s more focused on the broadcast follow.

Setting Up the Hudl

The Flex is a bit more work. You need a specific tripod. It feels more like a “pro” tool and less like a consumer gadget. It’s built to last. It’s heavy. It’s tough.

The Subscription Trap

Pixellot has a lower entry cost but their “advanced” coaching tools cost extra.
Veo requires a monthly or yearly sub to even use the camera. If you stop paying, the camera is a brick.
Hudl is a package deal. It is expensive, but it includes the library, the exchange, and the tools.

The Reality of AI Cameras

They aren’t perfect.

Sometimes the AI follows a ref. Sometimes it thinks a bald head is a ball. This happens to all of them. Maybe once a game. You have to be okay with that.

If you want 100% perfection, hire a person. If you want 95% perfection for the price of a few months of labor, get the camera.

Setup Times

I’ve timed these.

Pixellot: 3 minutes.
Veo: 4 minutes.
Hudl: 10 minutes.

You need a tall tripod. At least 12 feet. 15 feet is better. It’s worth spending on a dedicated sports camera tripod made to go as high as 16 feet. Buy right and buy once. If the camera is too low, the AI gets confused by players overlapping. Get the camera as high as possible for best recording results.
